What is in VSL#3? 

"VSL#3® is a highly concentrated poly-biotic food supplement product consisting of the following 8 strains of live-freeze dried lactic acid bacteria:
Streptococcus thermophilus BT01, Bifidobacterium breve BB02, Bifidobacterium longum* BL03, Bifidobacterium infantis** BI04, Lactobacillus acidophilus BA05, Lactobacillus plantarum BP06, Lactobacillus paracasei BP07, Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus*** BD08

Does VSL#3 contain allergens?

VSL#3 does not contain: gluten, crustacean shellfish, molluscs, eggs, fish, peanuts, tree nuts, soybeans, milk and lactose, celery, mustard, sesame, lupin and sulphur dioxide at levels above 10mg/kg, or 10mg/litre, expressed as SO2.

Is VSL#3 Kosher & Halal?

VSL#3 is certified Kosher & Halal.

Is VSL#3 suitable for vegetarians?

VSL#3 contains no animal products.

Does VSL#3 contain artificial additives?

VSL#3 does not contain any colourings of flavourings

How is VSL#3 different from other food supplements?

VSL#3 has a 450 billion bacteria per sachet. Based on scientific research VSL#3 has the highest volume of bacteria per dose amongst the leading brands*, and contains a wide variety of bacterial strains that help keep the digestive system healthy and also helps to maintain a good gut health.

Storage

How should I store VSL#3?

To preserve VSL#3 keep it in the fridge. The bacteria have been freeze-dried and are live; it is best that they are kept refrigerated.

What if I’ve left my VSL#3 out of the fridge?

VSL#3 can be left out of the fridge for up to one week without affecting the quality of the product. However, VSL#3 must remain at a temperature below 25°C during that time.

Usage

What’s the recommended dose of VSL#3?

1 to 4 sachets per day is the reccomended daily dose of VSL#3

How do I take VSL#3?

VSL#3 is easy to take, try mixing it into a yoghurt or adding it to a cold drink such as fruit juice.

How long should I take VSL#3 for?

VSL#3 needs time to support your gut flora, so we recommend taking it for at least one month.

Can I take VSL#3 when pregnant?

As with all supplements, you should consult your healthcare professional about taking them whilst pregnant.

Can children take VSL#3?

We recommend discussing with your doctor before adding VSL#3 into a child’s diet.

Are There Any Side Effects?

Side effects are rarely reported and generally consist of bloating but this is understood to be a temporary effect as your gut adapts itself to the new bacteria.

Can A Sachet Be Split Over A Number Of Days?

A sachet can be split over a number of days, as long as the opened sachet is kept in the fridge and used within seven days of opening. We would recommend sealing the open sachet with a food closure clip or folding the sachet over and sealing it with sticky tape.
